Smoky Festival

With the Florida Folk Festival coming up at the end of this month (one of the longest-running music festivals in the USA), it is only right we mention that Stephen Brooke's third Cully Beach mystery novel, SMOKE, takes place in part at the event. Available from Arachis Press (arachispress.com) in print and as a free ebook.

It is set in the first year the author attended that festival, 2001. Lots of forest fires that year made it very smoky at the Stephen Foster State Park (in White Springs Florida), hence the title of the book.

These Remembered Hills

Stephen Brooke's newest novel, a 'Hocking Hills Mystery' (the first, with a promise of more to come) will be officially released on January 7 2023. Titled 'These Remembered Hills,' the story is set in the Hocking Hills of southeastern Ohio in 1962, and will be available in print, epub, PDF, and Kindle formats. Here is the official blurb:

Yes, he loved these hills, these remembered hills of his youth.

Jim Fry had returned from his four years in the navy, returned to the family farm where his sister had died, broken at the foot of a cliff. An accident. So most believed.

Not her friend, artist Rick Myers. A few days later, Myers is also dead and no one mistakes this for an accident. Through farmland and forest, the cliffs and creeks of the Hocking Hills of southern Ohio, Jim pursues the truth—and the murderers.

And here is the cover:

Smoke Release Announcement

We are pleased to announce that Stephen Brooke's third Cully Beach mystery, SMOKE, is scheduled for release on November 30, 2019. Here is the official blurb for the novel:

A dry Florida spring. Wildfires burn across the state, blanketing it with smoke. In sleepy Cully Beach, the sands reveal a long-buried body — the body of a woman Ted ‘Shaper’ Carrol knew in another life. Soon, he is involved in puzzling out what happened to her and how it ties into an unsolved jewel theft of a decade previous. The clues she left him carry Ted to danger at the smoke-wreathed Florida Folk Festival and back again to the beaches of home, while both police and criminals shadow his moves.

Ted would much rather be busy preparing for his wedding through these slow months leading into the summer, but crime has once again reared its inconvenient head in the third Cully Beach mystery from Stephen Brooke, SMOKE.

Remember also, just one week to the official release of Oliver Davis Pike's science fiction novel, ALIENESE. Already available in print and ebook from most online sources and our own shop.
