2025 Releases

Two new books are slotted for release in the first half of 2025. These are Stephen Brooke's latest poetry collection, THE MOON AND THE SEA, set for April 21, and Oliver Davis Pike's third Jack Mack science fiction novel, DIM DISTANT STARS, which will be released on June 1. As usual, in print and as free ebooks (epub and pdf).

Counting Words Release

Countdown to Counting Words

We have decided not to hold Stephen Brooke's new poetry collection, 'Counting Words,' until next year, as originally intended. The release date now (and this is fairly solid) is October 25. More news, cover reveal, and so on to come in a bit (once 'The City and the Sword' is out). 'Counting Words' is a collection of poems with an emphasis on language and its uses, both serious and for play.

The City and the Sword Release Date

The official release date for Stephen Brooke's new fantasy novel, THE CITY AND THE SWORD is August 23,  2024, which gets it out there before the Labor Day weekend. Admittedly, official releases don't mean as much in these days of ebooks and print-on-demand. Here's the rear cover blurb:

Shallow Poet Release

We have removed all our print poetry titles from distribution to bookstores, which means they can only be purchased directly from Arachis Press. It also means we were able to cut our prices almost in half. They remain available as free ebooks at our site.

Distribution

Although 'Shallow Poet' (out in less than a month now) is going to be released with an ISBN and full distribution, we are still seriously considering removing all the poetry books from distribution to retailers. This would allow us to offer them at a considerably reduced price. The ISBN's  cost is negligible; it is the mark-up for retail that hurts, and nearly doubles the price on these smaller books (it's somewhat less noticeable on a thick novel).

Be all that as it may. This release will be distributed and we'll worry about changing anything of that sort further down the line. Of, course, 'Shallow Poet' will be free as an ebook (PDF and EPUB) at the Arachis Press site. In the mean time, we are doing re-reads of most of our titles and inevitably discovering the occasional typo or such. New editions will appear as necessary, though none of it is at all pressing.

One thing we are certain of for the coming year is the release of Stephen Brooke's poetry collection, Shallow Poet, on April 21, 2024. The book largely (but not entirely) focuses on the poet's lighter and more humorous work. Here's the cover. More soon on what's coming next year.
